1st hijabi pic of this school year…

mypicture.jpgThis is me. Wearing my turquoise hijab. Drawn by the girl with the bangs in her eyes (see post below).

Part my collection of hijab as interpreted by children (non-muslim), circa school year 2007-2008. I love the way she got the draping in front – of my heart, apparently. I also like the sidestep I’m doing and the way the skirt flounces out.

Ahh, so adorable! That blue hijab is impecable. I work with kids (not as a teacher) and one four year-old said to me, “are you Indian?” And I said, “no, why do you say that?” And she said “because Indians wear that” (pointing to my hijab).

At the end she wanted to give me a hug. But I gave her a high-five, since we’re not allowed to give hugs anymore :(

Awww bless her. It’s like you’re dancing or Skiing on one ski!

That looks very anime-ish. It’s the big eyes. This is the first time I’ve seen a hijabi anime character!

I used to have bangs that went down to my eyes, but not when I was in 2nd grade. More like less than a year ago…

Asmaa, i find sidesy hugs effective in tearful situations – u know, just a “I-know-you’re-sad” gentle side hug.

lallamona, you’re right about the skiing!

hasan, have you ever seen ninjabi comics? here: http://www.ninjabi.com/cast.php
